76ers Win Without Embiid, Who Led Team to Franchise-Record Win Night Before

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Tyrese Maxey scored 52 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers beat the San Antonio Spurs 133-126 in double overtime on Friday night, April 7, 2024. The 76ers won despite playing without Joel Embiid, who was ruled out due to a knee injury.

Tobias Harris and James Harden each scored 17 points for the 76ers (44-35), who have won four of their last five games. Keldon Johnson led the Spurs (19-59) with 35 points.

The 76ers led by 11 points with less than three minutes remaining in regulation, but the Spurs rallied to tie the game and force overtime. The teams traded baskets in the first overtime period, and the Spurs took a 126-123 lead with less than a minute remaining in the second overtime period.

But Maxey hit a three-pointer to tie the game with 24 seconds left, and the 76ers got the stop they needed on the defensive end to force a third overtime period.

The 76ers took control in the third overtime period, outscoring the Spurs 10-2 to secure the win.

The win was the 76ers' second in as many nights. On Thursday night, Embiid scored a franchise-record 70 points to lead the 76ers to a 133-123 victory over the Spurs.

The 76ers will return to action on Sunday night when they host the Miami Heat.
